11. Utilities - Date & Time Formatting

Edited

Control how dates, times, and timezone information are displayed across your admin and customer-facing shop.

Overview

Date and time formatting settings control how dates and times appear throughout the platform - in the admin panel, on the customer-facing shop, in order confirmations, and across reports. These settings are configured per company, so each company can display dates and times in the format their audience expects.

All three settings - date format, time format, and timezone display - are configured in General Settings.

Date Display Format

The date display setting controls the order of day, month, and year across the platform.

Format

Example Patterns

When to Use

Localised

Adapts automatically based on the customer's language

Best for shops serving multiple languages - each visitor sees dates in their locale's natural format

Middle endian

04/22/1996, April 22, 1996

Common in the United States

Big endian

1996-04-22, 1996 April 22

ISO standard, common in East Asia and technical contexts

Little endian

22/04/1996, 22 April 1996

Common in the UK, Europe, Australia, and most of the world

Choosing a Format

  • If your shop serves a single region, choose the format that matches local conventions (e.g. Little endian for UK audiences, Middle endian for US audiences)

  • If your shop serves multiple regions or languages, Localised automatically adapts to each visitor's language preference

The Localised format relies on the customer's selected language to determine formatting. If your shop only supports one language, localised formatting will use that language's conventions for all visitors.

Time Display Format

The time display setting controls whether times use a 12-hour or 24-hour clock.

Format

Examples

When to Use

Localised

Adapts based on customer's language

Best for multi-language shops

12-hour

9:00 AM, 9:00 PM

Common in the US, UK, Australia

24-hour

09:00, 21:00

Common in continental Europe and technical contexts

Timezone Display

A separate toggle controls whether timezone information is shown alongside times.

When Show timezone information is enabled, timezone indicators appear across the shop - in baskets, on event pages, and in order confirmations. This helps customers in different timezones understand exactly when an event takes place.

If your events are all in a single timezone and your audience is predominantly local, you may prefer to leave timezone display disabled to keep the interface clean. For events that attract international visitors, enabling timezone display prevents confusion about event start times.

Where These Settings Apply

Date and time formatting settings affect how dates and times appear across:

  • Admin panel - event listings, order details, reports, dashboards

  • Customer shop - event pages, basket, checkout, order confirmation

  • Emails - order confirmations, approval notifications, refund notifications

  • Reports and exports - generated reports and downloadable data

  • Calendar views - event calendar date formatting

Configuring Date & Time Settings

  1. Navigate to General Settings

  2. Find the Date display settings dropdown and select your preferred date format

  3. Find the Time display settings dropdown and select your preferred time format

  4. Optionally enable Show timezone information

  5. Click Save

The help text below each dropdown shows example formatting for the selected option, so you can preview how dates and times will appear before saving.
