App settings, NFC pairing, badge printing, and hardware scanner support.

Overview

Settings control how the app scans, admits, and processes tickets. Access them from the menu on the home screen by tapping Settings.

Scanning Settings

Auto admit

Off

Automatically admits valid tickets after scanning, without requiring the operator to tap a button. Designed for high-throughput entry points.

Auto close after admitting

On

Closes the scan result screen automatically after a successful admission, returning to the camera for the next scan.

Ability to admit all

On

Shows the Admit order button on scan results, allowing the operator to admit all items in an order at once. Disabled automatically when auto-admit is turned on.

Multi event scanning

Off

Enables scanning tickets from any active event without selecting a specific event first. Adds an All active events option to the home screen.

When Auto admit is enabled, the Ability to admit all option is forced off and cannot be changed. Disable auto-admit to re-enable it.

NFC Pairing

NFC pairing links physical NFC tags to tickets, enabling tap-based entry and (optionally) cashless functionality. The app acts as both the pairing tool and the scanner.

NFC pairing

Off

Enables NFC tag pairing mode. When enabled, the scan tab switches from admission mode to pairing mode.

Check in when pairing

On

When enabled, pairing an NFC tag to a ticket also admits the attendee in a single step (Pair & Admit). When disabled, pairing only links the tag without recording admission (Pair only).

How Pairing Works

  1. Enable NFC pairing in settings

  2. Open an event - the Scan tab title changes to Pair (or Pair & Admit if check-in-when-pairing is enabled)

  3. Scan the ticket's QR code or barcode to identify it

  4. Hold the NFC tag against the device - the tag is written with the ticket data

  5. If Check in when pairing is on, the attendee is also admitted

If a ticket is already paired with the same NFC tag, the app asks for confirmation before re-pairing. If the NFC tag is already linked to a different customer with credits, the app warns you and asks to confirm before overriding the previous link.

Supported NFC Tag Types

The app supports two NFC tag types:

  • Mifare Classic (default) - standard NFC tags

  • Non-original Mifare Classic - for third-party compatible tags (configurable under Additional supported NFC tag type in settings)

External NFC Reader

For devices without a built-in NFC reader, the app supports external Bluetooth NFC readers:

  1. Enable External NFC reader in settings

  2. Tap the setting to open the device scanner

  3. Pair with the external reader via Bluetooth

Printing

Access Control Pro supports badge and label printing on two types of printers.

Sunmi Built-In Printer

Sunmi Android POS devices have a built-in thermal printer. The app prints labels with:

  • QR code (centred)

  • Customer name

  • First and second data capture answers (if enabled)

The label format is configurable:

Controls the paper format. Sticky labels require the device to be in Label Mode (see below).

Label height

40-260mm

Height of sticky labels in millimetres. Only applies to sticky label mode.

Print first data capture

On/Off

Whether to print the first data capture answer on the label.

Print second data capture

On/Off

Whether to print the second data capture answer on the label.

To use sticky label mode on a Sunmi device, you must first configure the device: go to Device Settings > System > Advanced > SunmiPrinter > Inner Printer, select Printer Mode > Label Mode, then select Label Study > Automatic Study.

Zebra Network Printers

The app discovers Zebra printers on the local network automatically. To connect:

  1. Open Settings

  2. Tap Printer

  3. The app searches for printers - select the one you want to use

The app supports four predefined print formats and automatically selects the best match based on the connected printer's label size:

  • HC100 wristband (254mm x 25mm)

  • GX420 wristband (254mm x 25mm)

  • GX420 badge small (76mm x 51mm)

  • GX420 badge large (102mm x 76mm)

Each format prints the ticket QR code, event name, date, customer name, and ticket type. Wristband formats additionally include customer ID and identification details.

Laser Scanner

Devices with built-in hardware barcode scanners (such as Sunmi terminals) are supported natively. The scanner emulates keyboard input - it sends characters followed by an Enter key press, which the app interprets as a completed barcode scan.

Configuration

Ensure your device's scanner settings are configured correctly:

  1. Open Device Settings > System > Scanner Setting

  2. Select Virtual Keyboard (or Keystroke) mode

  3. Enable Enter (or carriage return) as the scan suffix

For Code 39 barcodes, also enable Full ASCII (sometimes called Extended) under decode parameters to correctly handle lowercase and special characters.

Off

When enabled, prompts the operator to verify the attendee's age and date of birth after each valid scan. If no date of birth is on file, the operator can enter one.
